## Summary

The procurement process for the "Kerbside Food Waste Treatment" contract, led by Dumfries and Galloway Council, focuses on refuse and waste-related services, specifically the treatment and disposal of kerbside food waste in the East and West of the region. This open procedure aims to service Dumfries and surrounding areas, including towns such as Annan, Dalbeattie, Gretna, and Lockerbie, within location codes UKM92. Key milestones include the award of contracts to Oakbank Waste Management Ltd. on 1st July 2026, with a total value of £311,480. The procurement covered by the GPA, has a significant focus on service quality (40%) alongside price (60%) under fully competitive bidding conditions, initially described in March 2026, with a planning stage that started back in May 2023.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses involved in waste management services, offering roles in waste reception, bulking, transport, and treatment. Companies with expertise in providing compliant waste storage solutions, suitable transport, and advanced waste treatment facilities, such as those licensed for anaerobic digestion, would find this opportunity fitting. With community benefits and environmental compliance being priorities, this tender could serve to enhance the profiles of businesses that can demonstrate sustainable practices and compliance with relevant waste management regulations in Scotland, ultimately helping to foster business growth through long-term regional contracts.
