## Summary

Aston University is currently engaged in a public procurement process for the provision of mobile and telephony services. The University is seeking a single contract covering all elements of telephone communications, excluding the university telephone system. They aim to identify suitable suppliers providing landline and mobile communications that integrate well with their business system. The procurement process involves a comprehensive request for a package solution to meet the University's functional requirements, with an emphasis on scalability and cost predictability. The contract has been awarded to Abzorb Systems Ltd, with a total contract value of £870,000 signed on 12th September 2023.

This tender by Aston University offers business growth opportunities for organisations providing mobile and telephony services. Companies offering scalable solutions, integrated business system solutions, and shared bundle options for minutes, texts, and data are well-suited to compete in this tender. The University has specified key objectives for the contract, including reduced costs, improved procurement processes, sustainability, and social value considerations such as supporting local suppliers and offering graduate placements. Businesses interested in providing innovative telecommunications services with a focus on meeting the University's functional requirements and service expectations will find this tender as a gateway to potential growth and partnership opportunities.

## Notice

Aston University is going out to tender for the provision of mobile and telephony services as a combined offering, providing a scalable solution, providing flexibility and predictable costs. Mobile handsets are to be provided as part of the service offering. Landline requirements will include retention of existing ISDN lines and SIP lines. Aston University is looking for a single contract covering all elements of telephone communications (excluding the university telephone system). By embarking on this procurement process the University wishes to identify suitable suppliers of both landline telephony and mobile communications, which is the best fit solution in terms of functional requirements and business system integration. Ideally the University would want to identify a Landline and Mobile Telephony service that not only meets all, or the key aspects of required functionality and service, but also is part of an integrated business system solution capable of meeting the broader financial, procurement and functionality. The University is therefore seeking to contract with an organisation that must be able to provide a package solution (based on a shared bundle of minutes, texts and data), to meet the functional requirements of the University. The University wishes to enter into a single contract for the supply of goods and services. If suppliers are to propose to engage a third party to supply any of the elements, this arrangement must be covered by a formal subcontract agreement between the Tenderer and the third party (ies).
