## Summary

The Ministry of Defence (MOD), through its agent Babcock Land Defence Limited, has awarded a four-year Framework Agreement to MEL Aviation Limited for the repair, calibration, and maintenance of aircraft component test equipment. The contract, valued at £2.7 million, includes provisions for three additional one-year extensions subject to satisfactory supplier performance. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically dealing with repair and maintenance services of military vehicles, and it was carried out via a negotiated procedure due to a lack of suitable responses to a prior restricted procedure. The primary delivery location for the services is Babcock Land Defence Limited's facility in MOD Donnington, Telford. The contract was signed on 5th July 2024.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in defence-related repair and maintenance services, particularly those with expertise in calibration and aircraft component testing. Companies with a proven track record in the defence sector, as well as those capable of meeting stringent performance requirements, are well-suited to benefit from similar future contracts. The long-term nature of the framework agreement, combined with the potential for extension, provides a stable business growth opportunity for suppliers who can consistently deliver high-quality services. The use of a limited procurement method also indicates a preference for suppliers who can meet specific, high-demand requirements within the defence industry.
