## Summary

The Coal Authority has initiated the procurement process for the drilling of three mine water monitoring boreholes at the Thornley and Deaf Hill sites to evaluate the impact of rising mine water levels on the environment. This project falls under the "works" category and is classified as "Test drilling and boring work" (CPV 45120000). The procurement is currently in the "tenderUpdate" stage, following a recent update on 20th August 2024, with an estimated total project value of £661,980.40. Located in the region UKC, the project addresses environmental monitoring needs identified in a 2020 review. Interested parties should note the project's open procurement method, and key roles include buyer representation by Adam Beckett of The Coal Authority, headquartered in Mansfield, United Kingdom.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities for companies specialising in drilling services and environmental monitoring. Businesses like Soil Engineering Geoservices Limited, engaged in similar previous projects, would find this tender ideal. The detailed criteria, including technical and price factors, offer a balanced competitive edge. Sourcing equipment and expertise for mine water monitoring and drilling can enable companies to expand their portfolio and demonstrate capabilities in large-scale environmental projects, provided they adhere to the stipulated open procedure and the delivery address in the UKC region. The Coal Authority's engagement ensures a robust and structured procurement process, encouraging competent firms to participate.

## Notice

The Coal Authority invites you to tender for the drilling of a mine water monitoring borehole(s) to assess rising mine water on the surrounding environment at sites at Thornley and Deaf Hill. A review of the mine water block by the Coal Authority in 2020 highlighted the potential for elevated mine water levels at Thornely & Deaf Hill sites. Elevated mine water levels could pose a risk to the drinking water aquifers that overlie the mine workings. Therefore, the Coal Authority intend to construct a borehole to intersect flooded underground workings. The borehole is to allow monitoring of mine water levels that are thought to be representative of the area.

### Lot Information
