## Summary

The Home Office has concluded the procurement process for the "CPV - Ships Life Extension Programme," a crucial project related to the reconditioning services of ships or boats, specifically aimed at extending the service life of up to six Coastal Patrol Vessels (CPVs) under the Border Force Maritime Command. The main procurement category falls under services, with activity required to be performed in a UK shipyard. The procurement process, initiated with an open procedure, has reached the award stage, with the contract officially signed on 19th November 2024. This programme aims to replace obsolete, unsupportable, or maintenance-intensive systems, thereby modernising and enhancing the operational capability of the CPVs. The award has been made to Berthon Boat Company Ltd., and the total contract value is £3,432,469.50.

This procurement provides significant opportunities for businesses involved in maritime reconditioning services, particularly those capable of undertaking extensive overhaul and modernisation projects. Companies that specialise in state-of-the-art maritime systems, sustainable technologies, and cutting-edge operational enhancements will find this tender an ideal avenue for business growth. The focus on in-country performance minimises logistical challenges and supports swift operational turnaround, presenting a promising opportunity for UK-based shipyards and related service providers to showcase expertise, scale operations, and contribute to national security objectives. This tender was specifically suitable for SMEs, as indicated by the successful bid from Berthon Boat Company Ltd.

## Notice

Border Force Maritime Command (BFMC) is the UK's only national maritime law enforcement body. Its fleet of six Coastal Patrol Vessels play an essential role in delivering the Government's crime reduction and border protection objectives, alongside a range of wider maritime security goals. The current fleet of CPVs is at or nearing the end of their design life. This SLEP activity is applicable for up to six (6) CPVs for a life extension programme which will allow the continued services of the CPVs while mitigating risk and minimising loss of operational availability.
