## Summary

The procurement process for the construction of the Whittingham and Goosnargh Sports and Social Club in Preston, Lancashire, was managed by Homes England, a national agency, through an open procedure. This project, classified under the "works" category with CPV code 45212000, involved developing a new sports and social facility at the former Whittingham Hospital site, including features such as a new clubhouse, an 11 a-side football pitch, a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), and more. The contract, valued at approximately £6.2 million, was signed on 4th April 2025, with Walter Carefoot & Sons (Construction) Ltd being awarded the contract, marking the completion of this procurement stage.

This tender offers significant potential for business growth, particularly for firms in the construction industry with capabilities in recreational and community facilities. Given the comprehensive scope of works, including infrastructure development, landscaping, and installation of advanced facilities like electric vehicle charging stations, opportunities exist for businesses specialising in construction, civil engineering, electrical and mechanical services. Moreover, small to medium-sized construction companies, like Walter Carefoot & Sons Ltd, who can deliver high-quality work at competitive prices, are well-positioned to compete for similar opportunities that aim to rejuvenate community spaces in urban and rural settings.
