## Summary

The East London Waste Authority (ELWA) has initiated the procurement process for a "Residual Waste Contract" in the service category of refuse and waste-related services. The procurement process involves the treatment of residual waste for the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, and Redbridge, with services divided into three contract lots based on exclusivity percentages of the total contract waste. The procurement method utilised is a selective, competitive dialogue process. Key dates include an anticipated contract start date of 23 December 2027, with a potential extension option of up to five years beyond the initial ten-year period. The contract is valued at approximately £830 million. ELWA is based in London, enhancing opportunities for local suppliers to engage in substantial service contracts within the region.

This procurement presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in waste management, refuse disposal, and related services. It is particularly suited to large organisations capable of handling substantial volumes of waste and providing sustainable and economical disposal solutions. The contract's division into different lots allows flexibility and accommodates a range of providers who can manage specific waste streams or multiple lots. Bidders interested in more than one lot must ensure that they can deliver services for each successfully. This contract also encourages innovation through potential proposals for reception and transfer points, making it an attractive opportunity for companies eager to showcase their logistical and operational prowess.
