## Summary

The North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) is managing a procurement process to establish a Framework Agreement for the provision of Workwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across the United Kingdom. The initiative, titled "NEPO419 Workwear and PPE," spans multiple lots that include Workwear, PPE including Safety Footwear, and Uniforms. This opportunity, worth approximately £260 million GBP, is open under an Open procedure and aims to cater to regional needs in the North East (North and South) and nationwide provision. The planning stage of this procurement began in October 2023, with various consultation activities occurring in October to shape the Framework Agreement. The tender stage started in February 2024, with an expected closing of bids in March 2024. The award stage was completed in November 2024, resulting in contracts actively signed on 2nd September 2024. This Framework covers various industry categories such as clothing, footwear, luggage articles, and accessories, with a significant engagement from SMEs, large suppliers, and various contracting authorities throughout the UK.

This procurement process offers extensive business growth opportunities by allowing a diverse range of suppliers, including SMEs, to supply essential workwear and PPE to public bodies throughout the UK. Suppliers in manufacturing, wholesale, and distribution sectors, particularly those specialising in occupational clothing, PPE, uniforms, and safety footwear, are well-suited to compete in this tender. The scale and duration of the contracts, which span up to 72 months (with potential extensions), can provide significant and stable business for successful bidders. Furthermore, this Framework Agreement can assist businesses in establishing long-term relationships with various contracting authorities, enhancing their market reach and reputation in the public procurement sector.
