## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has completed a tender process for the procurement of imaging equipment in the medical, dental, and veterinary field. The title of the tender is "NCA21209 - 3350-STA Odyssey". This equipment is crucial for the university's research functions, offering advanced scanning capabilities and the ability to analyse various samples. The procurement method used was a limited tender process with an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. The contract was awarded to LI-COR Biosciences UK Ltd for a value of £115,993.37, signed on 16th December 2022. The University of Edinburgh acted as the buyer in this process, with the location being in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

This tender presents business growth opportunities for companies involved in supplying medical equipment and related products. Companies specialising in imaging equipment for medical, dental, and veterinary use would be well-suited to compete for such contracts. The significant value of the contract awarded indicates the potential for substantial business growth through successful participation in similar procurement processes. With a focus on quality as a key award criterion, businesses that can demonstrate superior product quality and technical capabilities stand a good chance of securing contracts in this industry category.

## Notice

Equipment provides all the scanning functions that have been lost due to relocation of predecessor systems, plus the ability to multiplex more than two antibodies simultaneously and scan microscope slides, and also perform analyses in the visual fluorescence spectrum in addition to near infra-red.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The Li-Cor 3350-STA Odyssey(r) M Imaging System will be widely used in the CVS by many researchers for a multitude of different functions. Also with the relocation of instruments that were being used by researchers in the CVS to the IRR there is considerable downtime for our researchers who currently have to move across the campus to access these instruments. Some assays are time critical and potentially results may now be affected due to an enforced time delay in moving from one side of the campus to the other. The Odyssey M provides all the scanning functions that have been lost due to relocation of predecessor systems, plus the ability to multiplex more than two antibodies simultaneously and scan microscope slides, and also perform analyses in the visual fluorescence spectrum in addition to near infra-red - I believe this is unique to this piece of equipment.
