## Summary

The public procurement contracting process for the Northumbria Police involves the award of a contract for the "Collection & Kennelling of Dangerous Dogs." This service falls under the 'services' category with a CPV code of 98380000 for dog kennel services. Northumbria Police urgently requires increased kennelling capacity due to anticipated legislative changes affecting dangerous dog breeds. The procurement method used was a limited process with a direct award to a single supplier in the North East region. The procurement stage is complete, with the contract already awarded and active, enhancing public safety.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses specializing in dog kennel services, especially those capable of handling dangerous dogs. The contracting organisation, Northumbria Police, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, aims to meet the rising demand for kennel spaces. Suitable businesses should have the capacity to provide kennel services meeting regulatory standards for dangerous dog breeds. The awarded contract signifies business growth potential in the animal services sector, allowing qualified suppliers to contribute to public safety initiatives.

## Notice

Northumbria Police have a need for increased kennelling capacity in order to meet current and predicted demand. Demand for kennels for dangerous dogs is undoubtedly set to increase as changes in legislation approach, specifically linked to the XL Bully breed. If the legislation is implemented as expected this will place demand beyond the current capacity of our kennel estate.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

### Procurement Information

Northumbria Police have an urgent requirement to increase their current dog kennelling capacity. The Force has approached all North East dog kennels to check their capacity and to compare costs. All dog kennels, with exception to one, have confirmed that they have no additional capacity to host dangerous dogs. The Force has approached the only supplier who confirmed they have capacity. The Force will undergo a standstill period as part of voluntary ex ante transparency notice. To protect the supplier and their premises the Force will not announce in the public domain their name or address
