This falls under the services industry category and focuses on veterinary services, with a contract value of approximately GBP500K over 5 years. The procurement stage was completed through a limited procurement method with an award procedure without prior publication. The contract involves the delivery of Official Controls (OCs) in remote areas within Scotland and has been divided into 6 lots by geographical area of performance.

This tender presents business growth opportunities for suppliers in the veterinary services sector, especially those with expertise in official veterinarian and meat hygiene inspection services. The procurement method, which was based on non-competitive action with VEAT, aimed to ensure the continuation of high-performing services. Businesses with capabilities in delivering services within remote areas in Scotland would be well-suited to compete for this contract, which has a potential contract extension of up to 2 years. Key dates for this procurement include the contract award on December 5, 2023, showcasing a strategic partnership between FSS and the awarded suppliers.

## Notice

The suppliers will provide a service for the delivery of Official Controls (OCs) in accordance with relevant UK law in FSS AMEs. Typically, this also includes routine attendance in Approved Game Handling Establishments (AGHEs) for joint veterinary and inspector functions and duties. These contracts cover remote areas within Scotland or reduced attendance requirements, where it would be uneconomical for FSS to deploy its own official veterinarians and/or meat hygiene inspectors. The requirement for these services is on a locum basis.
