For Defra to purchase two new BTS-Solar / BTS2048-xx_WP and a spectral irradiance to be used to take ozone column measurements and global UV measures to support compliance with the UN Vienna Convention and continue to support global scientific monitoring studies which are vital to assess the health of the ozone layer and risk posed to human, animal and environmental health. 

Together these instruments will replace the Brewer Spectrometer (model: Mark IV) at Reading which is at high risk of failing as well as future proof the ozone monitoring programme which has been collecting data since 1993 and is considered world leading in its contribution to global scientific monitoring.
