## Summary

The University of Sheffield's department of Physics and Astronomy has completed a procurement process for closed-cycle cryostat systems for optical spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum dots. The main procurement category is goods, with two lots specified: one for Optical Table Cryostat for Photoluminescence Imaging and another for Standalone Optical Cryostat for Long Duration Measurements. The University of Sheffield is the buyer, and the procurement method used was an open procedure. The contract for the Optical Table Cryostat was awarded to Quantum Design UK and Ireland Ltd, while the contract for the Standalone Optical Cryostat went to Attocube systems AG.

This tender for closed-cycle cryostat systems offers opportunities for businesses in the laboratory, optical, and precision equipment industry category. Companies that specialize in supplying high-quality laboratory equipment tailored for optical spectroscopy applications could compete effectively. The University of Sheffield is seeking suppliers who can deliver cutting-edge solutions for its research needs in the field of semiconductor quantum dots. The tender presents a chance for businesses, especially those offering innovative optical instrumentation, to partner with a prestigious academic institution and showcase their technical expertise.

## Notice

The University of Sheffield's department of Physics and Astronomy are looking to procure 2 types of closed-cycle cryostat systems for optical spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs): Lot 1 - Optical Table Cryostat for Photoluminescence Imaging Lot 2 - Standalone Optical Cryostat for Long Duration Measurements The University of Sheffield is not a contracting authority for the purposes of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (Directive 2014/24/EU) as amended by the Public Procurement (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020. The University is, on a voluntary basis, operating under the Public Contracts Regulations (as defined above) for this procurement case and is therefore advertising this opportunity in Finder a Tender with an obligation to comply with these regulations. By doing so, it does not become a contracting authority and there is no implied obligation to comply with procurement legislation for other procurement cases.

### Lot Information

Optical Table Cryostat for Photoluminescence Imaging

A closed-cycle cryostat system is required for optical spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The principal uses will be for micro-photoluminescence and photoluminescence imaging from self- assembled InGaAs QDs in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Standalone Optical Cryostat for Long Duration Measurements

Up to 2 closed-cycle cryostat systems are required for optical spectroscopy of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The principal use will be for micro-photoluminescence measurements of self- assembled InGaAs QDs in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, in particular long-duration measurements under resonant laser excitation that require very high stability and low vibration.
