## Summary

SP TRANSMISSION PLC, based in Glasgow, United Kingdom, has recently awarded contracts as part of their Strategic Agreement for Transmission Overhead Line Works. This procurement process, classified under the industry category of construction work for electricity power lines, involves major strategic projects. As of 22 August 2025, the process has reached the award stage with active contracts for three lots including 400kV, 275kV and 132kV Overhead Line Works. While the framework agreement for the project started with tenders closing on 31 January 2024, the signed contracts became active on 2 December 2024. Valued at approximately £3 billion, the projects under this agreement aim to support SP Transmission's Holistic Network Design (HND) objectives, with anticipated project activities focused on central and southern Scotland. The lengthy potential framework duration, extendable up to 10 years, caters to the long-term strategic goals, including alignment with net-zero ambitions by 2050.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, especially for companies in the construction and energy sectors equipped to handle high-voltage transmission infrastructure projects. Large and established firms like Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions Limited and Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure Ltd have already been awarded contracts, reflecting the scale and capacity required. However, smaller companies, specifically those with specialised capabilities in high voltage systems and infrastructure improvements, might find opportunities in subcontracting roles or by aligning with major suppliers. The adoption of a strategic collaborative delivery model promises robust potential for partnerships, innovation, and skills development within the industry, making it a lucrative possibility for businesses aiming to enhance their market presence in energy infrastructure delivery.

## Notice

SPT has appointed partners with the capacity and capability to deliver its strategic infrastructure priorities through a strategic collaborative delivery model. The agreement comprises three (3) Lots: - * Lot 1 is for 400kV Overhead Line Works involving a HTLS (High Temperature Low Sag) conductor system * Lot 2 is for 275kV and 400kV Overhead Line Works * Lot 3 is for 132kV Overhead Line Works The partners appointed to the agreement may be allocated projects and they will provide engineering and design, procure any materials and equipment, and carry out the construction works as per the agreed design with SPT. The contractual arrangements comprise a main Framework Agreement regulating the rights and obligations of SPT and the partners, with call-off contracts for individual packages using the NEC4 family of contracts. There is no guarantee, express or implied, that the appointed partners under the Framework Agreement will receive any, or a particular volume or value of work.
