Lot 1

The Test and Trial will provide learning on the financial and practical impact of entering into environmental land management schemes by working with the tenant farmer of Tenantry Farm who is new to agri-environment schemes who will evaluate the possibility of incorporating SFI options into his existing farm business and apply for SFI options if appropriate. Learnings from this will be presented to 3 other farmers who have not previously entered Defra schemes to understand their views and any barriers. GWCT will support the farmer to use the practitioner monitoring tools they have developed to review the process of practitioner-led species monitoring. GWCT will also work with this farmer plus 10-15 farmers from the Martin Down Farmer Supercluster to explore the potential for a blended finance approach to habitat improvement and management, reviewing private funding opportunities and how they could be incorporated into existing schemes.
