The contract, valued at £100,000,000, is underpinned by the CPV code 33140000, indicating its classification as a procurement of medical consumables, primarily under the goods category. The contracting process utilised an open procedure, and the framework is designed to operate for a maximum duration of 48 months. The successful bidders for each lot include notable companies like Johnson & Johnson Medical Limited, Medtronic Limited, and several SMEs such as Raise Healthcare Pvt Ltd and Lawmed Ltd, suggesting a diverse array of suppliers. This procurement activity was culminated on 1st July 2025, and delivery of the products will be coordinated across the UK through the NHS Supply Chain.

For businesses, particularly in the medical supplies sector, this tender represents a significant opportunity to expand their market presence by becoming key suppliers to the NHS. The specification of products like absorbable and non-absorbable mesh variants offers a breadth of possibilities for suppliers who excel in manufacturing innovative biomedical materials. SMEs with robust quality assurance processes, such as ISO 9001 certification, and the capability to deliver high-quality medical devices can find significant growth potential in participating in such tenders. Additionally, the inclusive approach of this procurement process, which has evidenced a healthy competition among large corporations and SMEs alike, provides a promising environment for smaller enterprises to enter new markets and networks collaboratively with established healthcare giants.
