## Summary

The procurement process for Alperton Community School's catering services has reached the award stage. The school, located in Alperton, London, recently awarded the contract to Aramark UK Limited, following a selective procurement procedure. This services contract, worth £1,600,000, will commence on 1st August 2024 for an initial term of three years, with an option to extend for a further two years pending satisfactory performance and agreement on budgets. The procurement initiative, part of the school's strategy to enhance its catering services across two campuses serving over 1,900 students, emphasised high standards and innovative food concepts. The tender was classified under the school catering services industry category and adhered to a restricted procedure method, welcoming electronic bids.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies in the catering and foodservice industry looking to expand their business in the educational sector. Businesses that specialise in large-scale school meal services and value quality, consistency, and innovative nutritional offerings are well-suited to compete. The successful contractor is expected to provide proactive management that maximises sales and the uptake of Free School Meals (FSM) while ensuring high food quality. The opportunity required bidders to submit a TUPE compliant proposal with recommendations for enhancing service equipment and bespoke food concepts, which indicates potential growth areas for companies with innovative approaches and capability in operational enhancements. The contract reinforces the value placed on the integration of local employment and the utilisation of current pension schemes like NEST and LGPS, making it an attractive tender for businesses complying with these specifications.
