## Summary

The recent contract award process initiated by Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) focuses on the 'HEIW Provision of Enhanced and Advanced Education and Training'. This tender falls within the 'Education and training services' category, under CPV code 80000000, and it pertains to services within the UK, specifically the region covered by UKL. As of June 8, 2026, the procurement stage is marked 'complete', following an open procedure akin to the Open Procedure, which remains open to new providers joining the framework. The contract was awarded to several universities including Bangor University, Cardiff University, and others. The main location for service delivery is Wales, with a significant push towards enhanced and advanced practice education for NHS Wales health professionals. The procurement included various key dates, with the framework being open for refresh in future years commencing on 1st September and requiring responses by 30th April of the preceding year.

This procurement presents notable opportunities for educational institutions and training providers specialising in medical and higher education services. By aligning with the Professional Framework for Enhanced, Advanced and Consultant Clinical Practice in Wales, the successful providers can leverage this framework to deliver master's level programmes and tailored modules in healthcare education. With a contract valued at £16,000,000 and potential extensions available, organisations that can offer quality driven educational services through both blended and distance learning routes are well-positioned to benefit. Institutions facilitating advanced practice and maternity care modules at level 7 will find this particularly aligned with their expertise, thus fostering business expansion and solidifying their presence in Wales's educational landscape.
