## Summary

The Ministry of Justice is overseeing a tender process for the supply of fresh bread and morning goods for all public and some privately managed prisons across England and Wales. This procurement falls under the goods category, specifically classified as bread products, fresh pastry goods, and cakes. The procurement method is an open procedure, and the process involves multiple stages including planning, tender, and award phases. Key dates include the tender period ending on 17 June 2024 with the contract term beginning on 8 November 2024 and running for four years, with a possible extension of up to two additional years. The value of this contract is £18,000,000. Deliveries are to various regions across the UK, specified as UKC, UKD, UKE, UKF, UKG, UKH, UKI, UKJ, UKK, and UKL.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the production and distribution of fresh bread and morning goods. Companies with the capability to deliver a core range of bread products nationwide and meet food safety regulations are well-suited to compete. Given the critical nature of this supply to the prison service, which serves over 80,000 prisoners as well as staff and visitors, securing this contract can offer substantial and consistent revenue. Additionally, the opportunity for contract extension beyond the initial four-year term provides further potential for long-term business growth. Large suppliers with established logistics and compliance expertise, like Hovis Limited which won a previous contract, are ideal candidates for this procurement.
