This follows the expiration of their previous Non-Advertising Bus Shelter Contract in June 2024. The new contract, awarded through an open procurement procedure, includes provisions for two options to extend the contract's duration. The awarded supplier is Clear Channel UK Limited, with the contract valued at £912,831 and signed on 29th February 2024. The contract is scheduled to be active until June 2029, while the council also maintains a separate advertising bus shelter contract due to expire in 2029. The industry category for this procurement falls under repair, maintenance, and associated services of vehicles and related equipment, with operations based in the region designated as UKC (North East England).

This procurement presents lucrative opportunities for businesses specialising in urban infrastructure services, particularly in the provision and maintenance of transport-related facilities. Companies involved in the supply and upkeep of public transportation infrastructure, especially those experienced with bus shelters, will find this contract beneficial for business growth. The contract's substantial value and extended duration, coupled with potential extensions, offer financial stability and long-term collaboration opportunities with Newcastle City Council, a regional or local authority focused on enhancing public services.
