Explanation: 
The refurbishment and replacement of cooling fins on the PFR transformers on the Dounreay site is required as an interim measure to main site capability of the PFR transformers.
The PFR transformers are ageing assets and are currently operating at risk of significant failure. 
This interim work will minimise the risk of failure until new transformers are purchased and installed. 
If these transformers fail, there will be no electrical supply at PFR.
The identified Supplier is believed to be the only UK Supplier with the capability and knowledge to carry out the service
