## Summary

Essex County Council is managing a public procurement process titled "1022 - Additional Reablement Capacity and Home-to-Assess Services 2024". This tender falls under the Health and Social Work Services category and is specifically targeted at services within UKH3, covering multiple districts across Essex. This procurement is at the award stage, with contracts already signed on 18th July 2024. The procurement method used is an open procedure, aimed at addressing the increased demand for reablement services across five distinct geographical locations in Essex. Noteworthy dates include the tender's completion on 12th September 2024 and the signing of various contracts on 18th July 2024. The total value awarded across different lots is significant, exemplifying the importance of this service to the local community.

This tender provides substantial opportunities for businesses in the health and social care sector, particularly those specialising in intermediate care and reablement services. Companies that offer high-quality care, incorporate social value, and have a commitment to climate and environmental standards are well-suited to compete for these contracts. The procurement was highly competitive, with a significant number of bids from both SMEs and large organisations, indicating a strong market interest. Successful bidders like Passion Tree Care Services and De Vere Care Partnership have been awarded contracts, which can serve as a potential growth model for other businesses aiming to enter or expand in this sector. This procurement highlights the chance for service providers to contribute to community health initiatives while fostering business growth through long-term contracts.

## Notice

Essex County Council works with NHS Partners to jointly commission services which make up the Intermediate Care pathway, for people requiring short-term support within the community or following hospital admission, including reablement. Referrals to ECC's Intermediate Care services can be via discharge teams in acute hospitals, or from the community to support hospital admission avoidance. To ensure ongoing availability of this service, the Council will be tendering for the delivery of reablement services to support the core service delivery from our Local Authority Company. The Additional Reablement Capacity contracts, known as ARC, will address further service demands across the county, divided into 5 distinct geographical locations. Significant efforts have been made to enhance intermediate care services across the county. This includes aligning contracts and fostering collaboration. Additionally, a dedicated project has been initiated to shape the future of Intermediate Care in Essex.
