## Summary

The procurement process for the "Design & Build - Waterbeach Railway Station" project, initiated by Cambridgeshire County Council, has reached the award stage with the contract being activated. The contract was officially signed on 22 July 2025, with C Spencer Ltd named as the supplier. This project involves significant construction work within the railway industry, specifically focusing on relocating Waterbeach Railway Station in the UK region of East of England (UKH12). The procurement method followed a selective approach under a restricted procedure, adhering to regulatory frameworks such as GPA and CELEX. While the initial tender faced operational delays, resulting in an amendment of dates, the procurement stage has now been completed successfully.

This tender presents substantial growth opportunities for companies operating in railway construction, infrastructure development, and associated civil works. The detailed design and build component, requiring the development of platforms, car parking, access roads, and other key infrastructures, are ideal for businesses offering comprehensive civil engineering and construction services. Large-scale firms with substantial experience in infrastructure projects, adhering to NEC contracts, and possessing the capacity to manage Third Party Works for the railways will find this project align with their skillset. Moreover, as the council is engaging in a structured procurement process, it encourages systematic involvement, potentially benefiting businesses investing in long-term infrastructure development projects.
