## Summary

The Common Services Agency, more commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), has recently awarded a national framework for the supply of hypodermic needles and syringes. This procurement process, which falls under the CPV classification 33141310 (Syringes) in the goods category, includes several lots such as safety hypodermic needles, insulin needles and syringes, blunt fill needles (with and without filter), luer slip syringes, and non-safety hypodermic needles. The framework agreements were signed on 20 January 2025, upon the completion of the open procedure, covering the procurement stage from tender to award. This process, relevant to NHS Scotland and facilitated predominantly in the UKM region, aims to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of medical supplies across various healthcare settings within Scotland.

This tender represents a considerable opportunity for businesses seeking to establish or expand their presence in the medical supplies market, particularly within the NHS. The awarded contracts, which encompass multiple lots, offer extensive scope for suppliers specialising in medical devices, particularly syringes and needles. Both large enterprises and SMEs, including suppliers such as Balmung Medical Handel GmbH, Crest Medical Ltd, and GBUK Healthcare Ltd, have successfully secured contracts under these agreements. These opportunities not only foster growth and stability for involved businesses but also enhance their portfolios by supporting vital healthcare services across Scotland. The inclusion of community benefits requirements further underscores the tender's focus on positive societal impact, providing an additional avenue for businesses to contribute meaningfully to the local communities they serve.
