## Summary

The procurement process for the "Wound Closure" contract by NHS Supply Chain has reached the award stage, with the contract signed on 30th September 2025. Managed by Supply Chain Coordination Limited, the framework agreement involves an estimated initial expenditure of approximately £87,800,000 in the first year, within a total projected value of around £400,000,000. The framework covers medical consumables, specifically a range of products for wound closure, including sutures, haemostats, and tissue adhesives. The contract operates under an open procedure, ensuring transparency and competitiveness across various locations in the UK.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the manufacturing and supply of medical consumables. With extensive demand from NHS entities and private healthcare providers for products such as surgical sutures and haemostats, companies—particularly those with robust supply chain resilience and quality services—stand to gain substantial business growth. The framework encourages participation of both large enterprises and SMEs, with awarded suppliers including companies like Medtronic Limited and Advanced Medical Systems Ltd. The open procedure promotes fairness, providing a level playing field for all capable suppliers to compete effectively.
