### Procurement Information

This contract can be awarded under regulation 32(2)(b)(ii) of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 because The Authority considers that SAERI is the only economic operator able to provide the requirement for the following reasons: o They are the only research organisation permanently based in the South Atlantic, and are the primary environmental research institute for Falklands, South Georgia, and the Sandwich Islands. o they are the primary knowledge base of Falklands Geology - the requisite repository of information required to carry out the Hydrogeological Survey. o They are the only research institute with a working knowledge of "rotors", or lee waves, in the Falklands - one of the meteorological phenomenon's which requires further research on in the Falklands o They are the primary facilitators for research into flora and fauna in the Falklands, in conjunction with Falklands Conservation they are the prime Falklands herbarium holders.
