The main objectives of the Service are: - to support adults to reduce or end misuse of drugs and alcohol. - to support adults in abstaining from drug- and alcohol-associated criminal or anti-social behaviour. - to reduce harms associated with alcohol and drug use for those who misuse these substances. - to mitigate negative effects of drug and alcohol substance misuse on the wider community, including avoidable use of emergency health services, fear of crime and burden on social services. - to mitigate the adverse impact of parental drug and alcohol misuse on children, such as on their educational performance or behaviour. - to reduce the risk of exposure to, and transmission of, blood-borne viruses and sexually transmitted diseases
