## Summary

The NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board has announced the award of a contract for the Suffolk NHS Talking Therapies Wellbeing Service. This contract covers health services aimed at providing community-oriented, evidence-based psychological therapies for individuals aged 16 and above in the Ipswich, East Suffolk, and West Suffolk localities. The procurement stage is in the award phase, with the contract being formally awarded on 1st September 2024 and set to run for five years, with a potential extension of up to five additional years. The total value of the contract is £143 million, excluding VAT. The procurement was conducted under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Regulations 2023, using a most suitable provider process, which does not require the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

This tender provides significant opportunities for established health service providers to expand their offerings and secure long-term contracts with the public sector. The focus on comprehensive, needs-led psychological therapies provides a strong business case for companies specialised in mental health services, particularly those with experience working within the NHS framework. Businesses well-versed in evidence-based interventions and community-oriented health services would be highly competitive in this process, especially if they can demonstrate their capacity to deliver high-quality care and adapt to the evolving needs of integrated care organisations. The awarded service is expected to work closely with system partners, aligning with national and local health policies, which could further extend business growth and partnership opportunities within the NHS framework.
