## Summary

The UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) has awarded a contract for "UKRI-4096 APA Mesh Frames" under the industry category of frames (CPV 44142000). The contract pertains to the fabrication of mesh panels for Anode Plane Assemblies (APA) which will be housed in a cryostat and submerged in liquid Argon (LAr). This contract, valued at £780,556, was signed on 15th October 2024 and will be delivered in Warrington (UKD61). This procurement follows an open procedure and has progressed from the tender stage initiated on 7th June 2024, with a bid submission deadline on 12th July 2024. The contract was awarded to Locker Wire Weavers Ltd, a small to medium enterprise (SME) based in Warrington.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for SMEs specialised in manufacturing stainless steel mesh panels. The requirement for different mesh panel designs and the involved fabrication processes, including welding to rectangular frames, presents substantial supply and production demands. Businesses equipped with the necessary technical expertise, certification for material traceability, and conformity will find this project advantageous. Additionally, the open procedure ensures fair competition, providing a level playing field for qualified suppliers seeking to expand their market reach within the public sector.

## Notice

The Anode Plane Assemblies require a grounding layer of mesh panels. These will improve the uniformity of electric field lines around nearby charged wire planes and will also shield these charged wires from electrical signals originating inside the APA. The APA mesh panels are manufactured from metric section 304 or 316 stainless steel (certificate of conformity and material traceability is required) and fixed onto the APA via mesh panel brackets. Each mesh panel will be made by stretching wire mesh over - and welding to - rectangular frames fabricated from rectangular tubing. The fabrication of five different mesh panel designs is required, quantities for each size is detailed in the "Aim and objectives" section. The mesh panels will ultimately be housed in a cryostat, submerged in liquid Argon (LAr).
