## Summary

Translink, operating under the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company (NITHC), is currently facilitating a comprehensive procurement process through an open procedure for the "Framework 118 Supply of Rail". This framework is set up to support both capital and maintenance works across Northern Ireland and is divided into two primary lots: Standard and Premium Grade Rail, and Corrosion Resistant Rail. The procurement, categorised under railway materials, is active and operates under the CELEX legal basis. The tender submissions must be done via the eTendersNI portal by the 9th of September, 2024, and the framework aims to have signed contracts by the 20th of March, 2025.

This framework presents extensive opportunities for suppliers, particularly those with expertise in providing high-quality railway materials. It strategically designates one Primary and two Secondary suppliers per lot, allowing a diverse range of businesses to participate and expand their market reach in Northern Ireland. Large enterprises like British Steel Limited, SAARSTAHL RAIL from France, and voestalpine Rail Technology GmbH from Austria have been successful in similar awards previously, highlighting the potential for growth and market penetration for capable suppliers. The procurement's division into two lots encourages both specialised firms and broader commodity suppliers to engage, fostering competitive and versatile business growth.
