## Summary

The University of Strathclyde has awarded a contract for the supply, delivery, and installation of collaborative robots for the Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation (CMAC) at its Glasgow location. The procurement falls under the category of laboratory, optical, and precision equipment and follows an open procedure under the legal basis of directive 2014/24/EU. The awarded lot for Single Arm Collaborative Robots has been contracted to FANUC UK, valued at £263,424.17 GBP, with the contract signed on 17 December 2024. The project is aligned with CMAC's vision to develop state-of-the-art intergraded DataFactories as part of their new Data Lab initiative, funded by a UKRPIF grant.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in robotics, precision instruments, and laboratory equipment. Companies capable of delivering flexible and advanced robotic solutions that integrate with third-party scheduling and workflow software would find this contract especially suitable. The contract requires robots to handle diverse samples and work alongside human researchers, demanding innovative technical solutions. SMEs and suppliers with experience in delivering similar high-tech equipment could leverage this project to showcase their capabilities and secure long-term associations with a prestigious institution like the University of Strathclyde.

## Notice

The Centre for Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation (CMAC) are developing state-of-the-art intergraded DataFactories in support of our Lab of the Future vision and new CMAC Data Lab initiative. Our goal is to establish multiple automated model driven instruments to establish a ML (Machine Leaning) ready database of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data. A range of different collaborative robots are required to be integrated with third party scheduling and workflow software to move, prepare and analyse samples. These collaborative robots must be able to handle a wide variety of different samples and perform a range of different activities in a working lab alongside human researchers. They need to be flexible for future research demands that are not yet determined. This requirement is funded by a UKRPIF grant, which is funding a list of equipment to be delivered as part of the CMAC Data Lab project. Budget and timescales are tight for the delivery of this project and CMAC are looking to maximise the funding where possible. This contract is a Lotted contract
