The process has reached the award stage, with the contract valued at £475 million set to commence on 5 August 2025 for a period of five years, with an optional extension for an additional five years. Situated in UKJ12, the procurement utilises a competitive procedure with negotiation, as per the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Initially announced in the tender stage in August 2024, the procurement aims to address both planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of residential properties managed by the council.

This tender provides substantial opportunities for business growth, especially for companies with expertise in building installation, repairs, and technological advancements in maintenance services. Large-scale contractors such as Mears Limited, which has been awarded the contract, showcase the competitive nature of this procurement, highlighting that both domestic and potentially international firms could participate if they meet the high standards required. This process, conducted electronically, streamlines participation for companies capable of deploying innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction in public housing maintenance services, thus driving economic benefits and heightened engagement with regional development initiatives.
