## Summary

The North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board intends to award a contract under the Direct Award Process A for the provision of acute services by the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. This contract, titled "RR7 - Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust - Acute Services", falls within the health services industry category and covers services such as acute, mental health, and emergency ambulance services. The contract is set to commence on 1st April 2024, with an initial period of 3 years and an optional 2-year extension. Key dates include the contract signing on 24th March 2024. The procurement stage is at the award level, and the overall process bypassed the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 due to specific regulatory provisions under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) regulations of 2023.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in the healthcare sector, particularly those capable of providing comprehensive acute, mental health, and emergency ambulance services. The contract's substantial value and the extended duration offer a stable and lucrative prospect for qualified service providers. It is especially suited for large healthcare providers that can meet the demanding requirements and ensure continuity and quality of care as specified under the national guidelines. The specialised nature of the procurement method, which did not require prior publication of a call for competition, emphasises the necessity for a provider with unique capabilities and a proven track record in these services.
