## Summary

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is releasing a tender for the "Appointment of Exhibition Designers for NMRN Hartlepool- New Naval Galleries". This project falls under the category of museum-exhibition services with a specific focus on new naval galleries at the Hartlepool Historic Quay, located in the region code UKC11. The procurement process is currently in the Tender stage, with key dates including the submission deadline on 18th September 2024 at 12:00 PM and the procurement award expected to begin shortly after. The tender calls for services from RIBA Stages 2 to 7, with a stringent timeline to deliver a priced RIBA Stage 2 concept design by January 2025. The overall capital budget for the project is approximately GBP 10 million, and the procurement method is an open procedure.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in museum design and exhibition services to contribute to a high-profile, heritage project aimed at developing new gallery spaces and enhancing the visitor experience. The tender is particularly well-suited for businesses with experience in cultural or historical exhibition design, capable of adhering to the structured RIBA stages. The project aims to revitalise the Hartlepool site, potentially increasing foot traffic and business in the surrounding area, thereby offering sustainable, long-term growth opportunities for the winning bidder. Enterprises interested in leveraging this opportunity should demonstrate strong expertise in museum construction work and the ability to deliver innovative concepts within the specified deadlines.

## Notice

The primary objectives of the "Whole Site - New Naval Galleries" project are as follows: To enable the Hartlepool site to minimise its reliance on grants so that it becomes a sustainable and profitable visitor attraction. To offer additional new gallery space to help promote the NMRN and the Hartlepool Historic Quay. This will allow NMRN to display objects that are currently not available to the public and if feasible, house the RML 497, a WWII motor launch, where it can be conserved and displayed to the public. To support an engaging activity plan to help support and energise the above objectives and help drive regeneration and business to the surrounding areas. The Capital Budget for the project is circa GBP 10 m. The NMRN are seeking tenders for RIBA Stages 2 to 7 for a number of professional services including Exhibition Designers. There is an urgency to procure a professional team and for them to develop a priced RIBA Stage 2 concept design for the whole site by January 2025 to allow NMRN to consider the proposals and submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) soon after. Subject to NLHF approval or otherwise NMRN will then move to prepare a NLHF Round 1 Application or if not successful reconsider its options. The contract with the successful consultant will have break clauses at the end of each RIBA Stage or other contractual rights for terminating services should it be necessary.
