## Summary

The NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (ICB), through the NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW), has announced the direct award of a contract to the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital. This contract pertains to the provision of elective inpatient and day case surgeries, outpatient, and diagnostic services, including cardiology, catering to the specific health services category. This award falls under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, and not under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The procurement process employed was a limited method without prior publication of a call for competition, justified by the direct award B accreditation process. The contract commenced on 1st June 2024, runs for 10 months, and services will be delivered across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for healthcare providers specialising in elective and cardiology services, particularly those equipped to handle the clinical and operational demands of an ageing population. Companies experienced in delivering high-quality, patient-centric services, with capabilities in maintaining clinical best practices and efficient service delivery, are well-positioned to compete. The successful bidder stands to benefit from enhanced visibility and reputation within the NHS framework, potentially leading to future opportunities as well. The focus on patient choice, quality, safety, and timely access underlines the importance of robust clinical governance and operational efficiency, making this a lucrative opportunity for businesses with a strong healthcare service portfolio.
