The Masterplan and Landscape Architect's role will be to assist the Trust and the appointed Development Manager in securing a Satisfactory Planning Permission for the Masterplan and the Surplus Land released by the redevelopment of St Mary's Hospital in line with the Trust's Objectives. The existing St Mary's Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals in central London - one of four major trauma centres and a major medical teaching and research campus. A series of unsuccessful redevelopment attempts over the last 40 years have left the ageing estate in critical need of redevelopment. Situated immediately adjacent to Paddington Station, and extending to an area of approximately 8.6 acres (3.5ha), the Site will provide for a new state-of-the-art major trauma and acute teaching hospital. Alongside the new Hospital, initial feasibility studies have indicated the potential for c. 50% of the Site to be released for a major mixed-use commercial development, delivering c. 1.5m -2.5m sq ft NIA of space that will help fund the Hospital.
