## Summary

Translink, located in Belfast, UK, has completed the award process for the FW122 Permanent Way Major Projects Framework, a strategic procurement seeking to engage contractors for extensive railway construction works. The industry category is classified under urban railway track construction. The procurement method used was a selective, negotiated procedure with prior call for competition, aimed at ensuring that capable contractors are chosen for this extensive framework. The framework supports the delivery of capital and maintenance works, with a focus on railway renovation, including standalone site renewals and large-scale multidisciplinary projects. The initial tender phase closed on 30 September 2024, evolving from planning to tender and finally the award stage as of 2 April 2026. The contract involves substantial financial allocation towards enhancing railway infrastructure across various locations in the UK.

This procurement framework presents significant potential opportunities for contractors specialising in railway construction, civil engineering, and signalling works. The framework includes a variety of work packages, such as track renewals, rail milling, and line speed improvements, among others, thus catering to diverse aspects of railway enhancement projects. Due to its multidimensional scope involving interfacing railway assets like Telecoms and Electrification, this tender is ideal for large-scale suppliers with the capacity for cross-disciplinary projects. Companies like McLaughlin and Harvey Limited, BABCOCK RAIL LIMITED, Amey Rail Limited, and FP McCann are prime examples of organisations that have successfully been awarded contracts, illustrating the scope for similar large enterprises seeking to expand their operations in the rail infrastructure sector. Businesses with expertise in engineering, construction, and multi-discipline design would find this framework conducive to growth and expansion in the UK's railway network development.
