Thames Freeport Overview The Thames Freeport, designated as a Freeport tax site by the UK government on 15 December 2021, is a strategic location near Europe's largest consumer market, home to 18 million people. Committed to decarbonisation and the circular economy, it offers intermodal logistics across river, rail, and road, making it an eco-friendly choice for logistics, manufacturing, and innovation. Located on the River Thames, it includes Tilbury and DP World London Gateway ports, and Ford's Dagenham plant. The Freeport aims to attract PS4.5 billion in investment and create 21,000 skilled jobs, acting as a hub for clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and logistics with connections to over 130 ports in 65+ countries. It is part of the UK Government's initiative to create digital innovation and trade hubs, fostering international investment and job creation.
