## Summary

NHS England has announced a planned procurement for the provision of auditory brainstem implants (ABI) services for children with congenital abnormalities of the auditory nerves or cochleae. This tender is classified under the health services industry category and aims to support children under the age of 5 who have profound deafness and cannot benefit from conventional hearing aids or cochlear implants. The procurement process follows the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023 and is currently at the planning stage. Interested organisations must express their interest by 17:00 hrs on 17th September 2024. The services are to be delivered across multiple regions in the UK, including UKC, UKD, UKE, UKF, UKG, UKH, UKI, UKJ, and UKK, with a further notice expected on 4th November 2024.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for highly specialised providers in the field of paediatric auditory implants. Organisations with existing contracts with NHS England for specialist ear, nose, and throat services for children, and with a multidisciplinary team comprising healthcare scientists, speech & language therapists, consultant ENT surgeons, and other requisite specialists, are well-suited to compete. Successfully securing this contract can enhance the provider's portfolio and expand their service offerings, particularly in the high-need area of paediatric auditory rehabilitation. Providers will need to have substantial expertise and experience in complex paediatric care and a team registered with accredited professional bodies to meet the specialist requirements of this tender.
