## Summary

The State Pathologists Department (SPD), a body within the Department of Justice (DOJ) operating at arm's length, has commenced a public contract for the supply and delivery of laboratory consumables. This procurement, under the title "ID 5420562 - DOJ State Pathologists Department - Supply of Consumables," falls within the chemical products industry category. The procurement process involves multiple lots: laboratory consumables, chemicals, dyes, and mortuary consumables. The contract, valued at an estimated £200,000, is set to last for an initial period of three years with options for two additional twelve-month extensions. This contract is currently at the award stage, with contracts signed on 6th December 2024 for each of the four lots, totalling up to £200,000. The contract will be performed in the UK region, specifically Northern Ireland.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in supplying laboratory, chemical, and mortuary products. Given the range of requirements split into four distinct lots, companies specialising in these areas, including SMEs, are well-suited to compete for a share of this contract. With the SPD’s stringent contract performance monitoring and clear performance expectations, successful suppliers can leverage this high-profile opportunity to enhance their market reputation and secure substantial long-term business. The use of an open procedure means a fair and transparent selection process, encouraging competitive bids and fostering growth opportunities for both local and specialised suppliers in the UK and beyond.
