## Summary

The NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board has completed the procurement process for the provision of Urgent Primary Care Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) at Forest Surgery, located in Brandon, Suffolk. This process was necessitated by a delayed re-procurement, requiring an urgent short-term contract to ensure continuous healthcare services. The procurement was conducted under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, with the final award being made to Swan Surgery. The temporary contract will commence on 1st October 2024 and conclude on 31st March 2025, following the expiration of the current contract on 30th September 2024. The procurement method used was limited, without prior publication of a call for competition, reflecting the urgent nature of the procurement as per the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) provisions.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in primary medical services, especially those experienced in handling urgent and short-term healthcare provisions. The contract's six-month duration allows businesses to demonstrate their reliability and quality of service in real-world conditions, potentially positioning themselves favourably for future long-term contracts. Businesses that specialise in healthcare services within the region of Suffolk and have the capacity to mobilise quickly will find this procurement particularly suitble. Smaller, nimble healthcare providers, as exemplified by Swan Surgery, may also find such opportunities advantageous for expanding their operational footprint and service reputation.

## Notice

The current re-procurement has taken longer than anticipated due to a rewind in the process. The current contract with the incumbent expires on 30th September and as a consequence there is a requirement to award a short term contract whilst the procurement concludes. THe new contract will be from 1st October 2024 to 31st March 2025.
