## Summary

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks Limited (NIE Networks) conducted a significant procurement process for electricians to manage the installation, refurbishment, and maintenance of substation high and low voltage equipment across Northern Ireland. This contract, titled "Electricians for the Installation, Refurbishment and Maintenance of Sub Station High & Low Voltage Plant / Equipment," falls under the industry category of electrical installation work. The procurement, which used a selective method involving a negotiated procedure with prior competition, has progressed to the award stage as of 15 September 2025. The contract was divided into three lots: Transmission and Distribution Projects, Day Rates, and Substation Inspections, each with specific requirements. Key suppliers awarded include TLI, Knox Electrical Ltd, and IMAC Construction Services Ltd, with contracts signed in early to mid-2025.

This procurement process represents substantial business growth opportunities for various electrical and construction companies, particularly those specialising in high and low voltage electrical installation work. Businesses with experience or capacity in delivering large framework agreements will find the contract's framework extension option appealing, potentially running for up to eight years. Given the technical and pricing criteria involved, both large enterprises and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are well-positioned to compete. Engaging in such contracts with NIE Networks can enhance a company's market position and expand its operational footprint in the region.
