## Summary

The NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has awarded the "Pharmacy Contract 2024/25 Cohens" to Cohens Pharmacy. This procurement process falls under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, specifically excluding the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The contract pertains to pharmacy services (CPV ID 85149000) aimed at delivering locally enhanced services for the Barnsley population. The procurement method was a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. This mode, known as direct award process B, was chosen because the services are interdependent with the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF). The contract will span from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025, with the award made official on 10th September 2024. Key procurement details include the contract being paid on an activity basis and a focus on quality criteria over price.

This contract creates a substantial opportunity for pharmacies integrated into the local healthcare infrastructure, particularly those capable of delivering services in conjunction with the CPCF. Businesses that are part of the existing group of pharmacy providers will benefit directly as the award criteria emphasise patient choice and quality service. This tight integration necessitates operations that enhance and complement the standard community pharmacy services rather than operating independently. Hence, large-scale pharmacies with a significant presence in the region are well-suited to compete and grow their service delivery capability through such contracts.

## Notice

The provider is commissioner to deliver locally enhanced services for the Barnsley population integrated with their additional pharmacy contracts.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

This Contract Award has been made following direct award process B of the Provider Selection Regime. This is an existing service delivered by an existing provider.

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (pharmacy) is because they are required to hold a contract via the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the (CPCF) contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount. For this reason not every Pharmacy delivers every LCS.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices.

The contract will run from 01/4/2024 to 31/03/2025
