## Summary

The Isle of Wight Council has completed the procurement process for a back office system that integrates with Flowbird Parking Machines. Tagged under the "Software package and information systems" industry category, this tender was carried out using a limited procurement method due to the absence of competition on technical grounds. Flowbird Smart City UK Limited was awarded the contract, valued at £350,944.24, on 19th September 2024. The contract is anticipated to last until 31st March 2028, with key reviews expected well before this date to assess the Council’s ticket machine requirements. The procurement process included a VEAT notice, with a standstill period from 6th to 16th September 2024, ensuring transparency in the award process.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in software integration and information systems, particularly those focused on public infrastructure and smart city solutions. Companies with expertise in developing or managing back-office systems compatible with specific hardware will find this market segment promising. The specific requirement for Flowbird Parking Machines opens doors for subcontracting opportunities and partnerships with the awarded supplier, Flowbird Smart City UK Limited. Small and medium enterprises, especially within the UKJ34 region, can leverage this procurement to build their portfolios in municipal technology services.
