## Summary

Coventry University has completed the procurement process for a colocation datacentre facility to host services for the CU Group. The contract, identified by SC-1008-23-TH, falls under the IT services industry category, specifically consulting, software development, Internet, and support, with the location specified as region UKG33 in the United Kingdom. Key dates include the contract award on 24th September 2024. The procurement method was limited, with a negotiated process that did not include the publication of a contract notice due to the necessity of protecting exclusive rights and ensuring stability in datacentre services. The supplier awarded the contract is (aq) Limited, based in Leeds, with the contract valued at £516,666.67. The contract is set to last for the next 2 years while a formal review is undertaken of Coventry University's datacentre requirements.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses involved in IT services, particularly those specialising in datacentre facilities and associated technologies. Businesses with expertise in reliable, stable datacentre services that can address the evolving needs of educational institutions would be well-suited to compete in similar future tenders. Additionally, companies offering comprehensive software packages and information systems integration are likely to find opportunities for collaboration and growth within such procurement processes. As technology continues to advance, adaptable and forward-thinking IT service providers can establish long-term partnerships with public sector entities like Coventry University.

### Procurement Information

AQL is our primary datacentre, it would be significant business risk to rush into a plan to relocate the primary datacentre and network communication links. We decided to continue our existing relationship with AQL for the stability of datacentre services due to the current financial position of the university group and the pressures facing the education sector. Technology is also changing at a rapid pace which makes it difficult to accurately predict long term placement of services as we continue to adopt more cloud technology. The AQL service is to remain in place for the next 2 years while a formal review is undertaken of our datacentre requirements. Once this decision is made, the university will go through a formal tender process for these services for a longer term partnership agreement
