## Summary

The University of Birmingham has completed a procurement process for the provision of high-speed internet connectivity and business ISDN connections, services and support to its Dubai campus located in Dubai International Academic City (DIAC). The contract, awarded to Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC, spans from 2024 to 2028. Key procurement details include a focus on the "Provider services" category, with a specific CPV code for ISDN network services. The tendering process was conducted using a limited procurement method, specifically an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. This approach was necessitated by the fact that Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC is the sole provider of these services in the region. The contract is valued at AED 13,000,000 and was signed on 16th September 2024.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses involved in the education and telecommunications sectors. Although restricted to a single supplier in this case, similar tenders offer potential growth avenues for companies specialising in advanced connectivity solutions and network support. Businesses that can provide comprehensive, integrative telecommunication systems and support services, particularly in academic or campus environments, would find similar opportunities particularly lucrative. The University of Birmingham’s commitment to integrating state-of-the-art technological infrastructure underscores a growing demand for specialised services, which could be met by agile and innovative enterprises capable of providing high-quality, reliable connectivity solutions.
