## Summary

Ofcom is seeking to establish a contract for Welsh language translation services, covering a range of materials from English to Welsh and vice versa. This procurement process is at the tender stage and is classified under the CPV industry category "Translation services" (CPV code: 79530000). The contract is expected to commence on 2nd December 2024 and end on 1st December 2027, with potential renewals extending the maximum length up to five years. The open procedure invites electronic and written submissions by 29th October 2024. The project covers translations, proof-reading, simultaneous translations for events, and maintaining a terminology dictionary to aid consistency. Key deliverables include news releases, website and social media content, employment documents, and meeting minutes.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in translation services, particularly those with experience in handling large volumes of text and tight deadlines. Companies that can provide accurate and reliable translations, including simultaneous translations during Ofcom's events and meetings, will be well-suited for this contract. Additionally, the contract's extended duration and renewal possibilities offer a long-term engagement for the successful bidder, providing stability and an opportunity to form an ongoing partnership with Ofcom. Business growth can be fostered through high-profile projects like the Ofcom Annual Report, which requires precise and timely translations, offering repeat business and continual professional development.

## Notice

Ofcom requires the establishment of a "call-off" Contract for the delivery of an accurate, reliable translation service from English to Welsh and less frequently, from Welsh to English. As a minimum, the service must deliver the following: * Accurate, timely and clear translation of a wide range of materials from English to Welsh and vice versa * Simultaneous translation as and when required. * Undertake several projects at the same time during busy periods and the ability to work to extremely tight deadlines. * Proof reading of large, complex, and high-profile documents, such as the Annual Report * Ability to turn around within constrained timescales, e.g., one hour if the translation is urgent. It would be preferable were the service also able to: * maintain and develop a dictionary of complex Ofcom terms which can be shared, in a suitable format with Ofcom Wales staff to ensure consistency across translations.
