## Summary

Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) is planning a significant public procurement project titled "24/033 - South West Scotland Onshore System (SWSOS) Electrification Program." The project falls under the construction works industry category and is aimed at improving infrastructure related to the oil and gas industry in South Scotland, specifically at the Brighouse Bay and Beattock compressor stations. Currently in the planning stage, the procurement aims to reduce fuel gas use and greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. Key activities include constructing new compressor halls with EMDs, upgrading electrical connections, and installing a vent recovery system. Future notices will be issued from 1 October 2024, with submissions due by 28 October 2024, 12:00 PM (UTC) for contracts to be carried out in Scotland. Interested parties are requested to refer to "24/033" and email tenders@gasnetworks.ie with basic details.

This tender presents an opportunity for businesses involved in construction, electrical installations, and mechanical engineering to participate in a high-impact project with clear environmental benefits. Companies with experience in constructing industrial buildings, upgrading electrical systems, and engineering installations would be particularly well-suited to compete. The electrification programme aligns with GNI's Low Carbon Pledge, thus offering companies a chance to engage in works that support sustainability goals. Participation in this tender could expand business portfolios, enhance industry reputation, and provide significant revenue streams from a major infrastructure project led by a prominent buyer in the gas and heat production sector.

## Notice

Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) operates two compressor stations Brighouse Bay and Beattock, both in located in South Scotland, to transport natural gas from the UK through a pipeline system to Ireland. The natural gas compressors on these compressor station are driven by gas turbines between 6MW and 12MW of rated power. The primary objective of the Electrification Programme is to reduce the use of fuel gas in the operation of the Brighouse Bay and Beattock compressors stations and associated fugitive emissions thereby aiding the reduction of greenhouse gas emission intensity by 50% (from 2010 level) by 2030 as outlined in Gas Networks Ireland's Low Carbon Pledge. The Electrification Programme at both Brighouse Bay and Beattock compressor stations comprises three major components at both stations: 1. construction of a new compressor hall with an EMD and ancillary equipment; 2. construction of a new electrical connection to upgrade the supply capacity to power the new EMD; and 3. the installation of a vent recovery system to capture normally vented gas and return it to the gas network.
