## Summary

The Ministry of Defence has engaged in a procurement process for the supply of artillery and armoured vehicle weapon systems components, primarily targeting the military vehicles and associated parts industry. This process, operating under the legal framework of the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations, was managed by Babcock Land Defence Limited as an agent on behalf of the Ministry. Initially announced with an estimated total contract value of £10,400,000, the procurement process involved a negotiated contract without the prior publication of a notice, due to the specialised nature of the deliverables. The contract pertains to the UK region termed UKG21, with BAE Systems, Global Combat Systems International Ltd in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, named as the single source supplier.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for large-scale businesses specialising in military vehicle components by highlighting a niche segment, demanding high expertise and specific technical capabilities. With BAE Systems being selected due to their unmatched expertise and experience, the process underscores the advantages for businesses capable of offering specialised skills and innovative solutions in defence-related sectors. Companies in the defence manufacturing arena that can demonstrate similar niche expertise might prefer to pursue similar procurement opportunities in the future, enhancing their growth potential within the defence industry eco-space.
