## Summary

The University of Strathclyde is seeking the supply, delivery, and installation of Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (C-SAM) equipment to support non-destructive inspection processes in semiconductor packaging. The procurement falls under the 'goods' category, specifically microscopes (CPV code 38510000). The location for the delivery of the equipment is NMIS in the region UKM82. This procurement process has progressed to the award stage, with a contract valued at £350,554, signed on 10 January 2025. The selected supplier is Industrial Production Processes Ltd, and the contract includes options for additional delivery and installation requests at the discretion of the University of Strathclyde.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in advanced scientific equipment, particularly those capable of providing high-resolution imaging solutions for semiconductor industries. SMEs like Industrial Production Processes Ltd have successfully competed, highlighting opportunities for similar sized companies with relevant expertise. The procurement process involves an open procedure, emphasizing quality and price equally in the evaluation criteria. Businesses in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment sector, with capabilities in delivering bespoke C-SAM equipment and meeting stringent technical and economic criteria, would find this tender beneficial for growth and establishing credibility in high-tech public sector contracts.

## Notice

NMIS require C-SAM (scanning acoustic microscope) capability. C-SAM is required to non-destructively inspect work-pieces at various stages of our semiconductor packaging process. We require a machine that can accept samples approximately 500 x 500 mm and is suitable for use in a semiconductor manufacturing context to detect delamination and other structural discontinuities in semiconductor packages. Machine outputs should include high resolution C-Scan images, and possibly A- and B- scan images.
